Meridian Community College celebrated the end of a long course of study for its practical nursing students Friday afternoon.
The pinning ceremony marked the end of three semesters of intense training and instruction.
"They start off in the beginning learning how to take care of patients. Then they learn how to give medications. They learn how to do treatments, procedures, and then at the end they get the icing on the cake, go to psych, go to maternal/child, And then at the end they actually work with another LPN one on one for a solid week," said practical nursing instructor Sandra Thomas.
Officials say the nursing field still has a high demand for caregivers.
There is a waiting list to enter the practical nursing program at MCC. For information, you may call the college at 601-483-8241.
