Enjoy Parade, Help Kids

Updated: Wed 5:45 PM, Dec 04, 2002

For this year's Christmas Parade local Marines are asking the public to do a little something different.

This year they are asking parade watchers to bring a toy for the annual "Toys for Tots" campaign.

"We're going to have a float and the deputies and Marines will walk beside it," said Staff Sgt. Gilbert Ramon of the U.S. Marine Corps. "
We're going to have myself and Deputy Calhoun in the back and what we're doing is asking people from the Meridian area to bring out a new unwrapped toy and give it to one of the deputies or Marines."

The Christmas Parade will start Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in downtown Meridian.

The parade route starts:
