Ala. Reports Higher Revenues

The Alabama Revenue Department released a report Thursday that shows tax collections for October and November totaled $918 million, up 2.7 percent from the $894 million collected in the same two months a year ago.

For November alone, the tax collections were $491 million, up 3.7 percent from the $473 million collected last November. Through the first two months of the fiscal year, the state's two biggest taxes are going in opposite directions.

The individual income tax is up 6.5 percent, but sales tax collections are down 1.5 percent.
