Marion Looking Forward

On election night, Elvis Hudson indicated he would ask the state auditor's office for an audit of the town's books in order to start with a clean slate. He says he requested the audit but was turned down, unless a specific reason warranted it.

"The final decision he suggested was that I get a CPA and see if they could find any discrepancies in the books," Hudson said.

Hudson said that step is under consideration, although he would like the firm chosen to have no previous connection with the town.

The new mayor also addressed the money Marion owes to the city of Meridian for treating Marion's sewage.

"As of right now, Mayor John Robert Smith and myself haven't gotten together on that. We're trying to set up a meeting in the next week to sit down and discuss that and see what conclusion we can come to or what terms we can settle on," Hudson said.
