When the city of Meridian puts the water back in the Lower Lake at Bonita, there will be no swimming beach, no water slide and it will not be stocked with fish.
Mayor John Robert Smith commented on that at his regular news conference Wednesday.
"There won't be a swimming beach. There never was a slide out there, nor was there a slide ever scheduled for the lake at Bonita. What he said was, we'll talk to wildlife and fisheries about stocking that lake, and in fact, they'll give you the fingerlings to stock, but we'd like to talk to them about some larger size fish when that is appropriate," Smith said.
The mayor did say the weeds and small trees currently growing in the lakebed will be cut before the small lake is refilled.
