Col. Erik Hearon, commander of the 186th Air Refueling Wing, slated for realignment on a list approved by the Pentagon and the Base realignment and Closure Commission, says the decision to remove nine mid-air refueling K-C-135-R Stratotankers from the Wing will result in the loss of 33 military jobs and 142 civilian jobs at Key Field Air Guard Station.
Hearon says a broad range of missions are possible for the 186th, including flying missions.
He said it could fly the C-17 tanker, which the U.S. Air Force is purchasing in the next couple of years, for worldwide strategic and tactical airlift, or the C-27 or equivalent tactical airlift plane for supporting the U.S. Army.
