Twenty-eight students from Toomsuba Head Start Center took a field trip Thursday.

Pre-K students visited Northeast Elementary School, which will be their school in the fall.

Northeast wanted to help them get familiar with the new surroundings. It was also a day of fun activities and a visit with Winnie the Pooh.

"Sometimes they might be scared and they may not really know what to expect when they come to a new environment and a new school," said Northeast kindergarten teacher, Natalie Warden. "And so we want to give them a tour, you know, and show them the playground and show them the classrooms and show them you know what a gym is and walk them through the lunch line in the lunch room and see, you know, just getting familiar with the campus."

"I think this is a tremendous aid for helping them get acquainted with the kindergarten setting," said Toomsuba Head Start teacher, Magnolia Betts.

Local businesses pitched in to help make the day possible. Northeast said it would like to have this activity again next year.
