Meridian police are investigating a shooting that happened late Friday afternoon in the area around 17th Street.

Officers responded to the report of 'a man down' about 3:15 p.m.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with an apparent gun shot wound to the stomach. His condition was not immediately known.

Police are looking for two black males who were driving a dull gray-colored Buick.
