About 400 people rallied on the steps of the Alabama Capitol Monday in support of Chief Justice Roy Moore's fight to keep the Ten Commandments monument in the lobby of the Alabama Judicial Building.

Speaker after speaker praised Moore and criticized U.S. District Judge Myron Thompson, who has ordered that the monument be removed from the judicial building.

One of the rally organizers, retired Army Sergeant Jim Cabaniss, said supporters of Moore are fed up with the judicial system and will work to keep the monument in the building.

In a lawn across the street from the capitol, about ten members of atheist groups held a counter protest to show support for Thompson's ruling.

Carol Moore of Columbiana said she was protesting with the atheists because she feels strongly that Moore was wrong to move the monument into the building.
