It's the Legislature's turn to step up and help the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Gov. Haley Barbour called a special session for Sept. 27. It will include a loan program designed to give short-term assistance to small businesses.
Some casinos are also asking to be able to build on land now, as many barges were wiped out by Katrina.
"I don't want to stake out a position until I give the gaming commission the courtesy of hearing what their recommendations are," said Gov. Barbour.
Barbour said he does not expect the session to last longer than a day.
Thirteen casinos on the coast were destroyed. The governor has not stated his opinion on the matter, but says he will by next Tuesday.
