The Meridian Public School District suffered extensive damage from Hurricane Katrina.

At Monday's School Board meeting, members learned the full extent of the damage.

"We incurred several roofs with damage. Witherspoon, Tuxedo, Marion Park," said Archie Scarbrough, director of operations. "We also had over 35 trees down across the district, a lot of minor damage with windows broken out.”

Even so, the total estimated damage to the school district is $220,000. All work, except the major roof repair, has been completed.
