Lauderdale County Sheriff Billy Sollie has a warning about a scam apparently being circulated.
A resident brought him a document that claimed to offer that person a $3 million reward of some type.
To claim the reward, the receiver of the document was asked to first send $20 to the company.
"If you get a letter in the mail or correspondence through the mail that you feel uncomfortable with, take the time to contact your local law enforcement agency, city or county, and have them do the checking for you. They have the means and methods to do the check for you," said Sollie.
Sollie says anytime someone asks you to send them money to claim a prize or reward, you can probably assume it's a scam.
