For two and a half weeks, the children at Tucker Elementary School gave up their soda money, snack money, and anything extra they might buy, to collect for the American Red Cross. In that short time they raised and impressive $3,000.
"They just came to me and said we've got to do something to help other kids and other people in Mississippi," said teacher Jane Massey. "The best way we could think of was to raise money."
The kids also went out and asked friends, family, and anyone else they came across to donate to the cause.
Everyone in the school participated in the fundraising. Gordon Stewart, a representative of the Key Chapter of the American Red Cross said that, if there were more people in the world like these children, it would be a better place.
