The call came to rescue workers around 2:00 p.m. Friday. Witnesses said a Meridian woman, the owner of the Nubian Boutique on 7th Street, was on a ladder on the first level of the building's roof, when she slipped and fell.

Emmitt Thompson, who saw the mishap from the ground, stopped a cab driver who then called 9-1-1.

After discussing several options, emergency personnel decided to use a bucket truck to get the woman off the roof.

It took several minutes for firefighters to maneuver the bucket to the roof where the victim was. She was then strapped tightly onto a stretcher and slowly lowered from the roof to the ground, where paramedics took over.

The entire process took about 30 minutes. The victim was taken to Riley Hospital, where she was treated for her injuries. Those injuries were apparently serious, but didn't appear to be life threatening.

Officials say she'll have quite a story to tell.
