Children First: Christmas With a Cop

For the Meridian Police Benevolent Association, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

For the eleventh year in a row, cops will take needy children shopping to get things they want for Christmas.

The association is preparing a list of children who, without its help, might wake up Christmas morning to an empty stocking.

Applications are now being taken until the end of October at the Meridian Police Department for children between the ages of 2-12 that need Christmas assistance.

If you want to help the Meridian Police Benevolent Association make sure every child has a Merry Christmas, you may join them Nov. 12 at Applebee's from 7:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. for a fundraising breakfast of pancakes, eggs, link sausage, cantaloupe and a beverage. Tickets are available in the Criminal Investigation Division at the Meridian Police Department for $5.00 each and you get a coupon for a free kid's meal with the purchase of an adult entree. Tickets will also be available at Applebee's that day.

If you would like to make a donation or purchase tickets, please contact President Buck Roberts, Vice President Benny Dubose, Secretary Keith McCary or fundraising chairperson Barbara Staten at 601-485-1859.
