Human remains were located last week in Newton County, along with a gun and two spent rounds, about 200 yards from where a search was conducted last summer in the Stratton community.

Sheriff Jackie Knight said a federal investigator in Arizona is trying to get the victim's dental records to verify if the remains are those of a man missing since 1996.

The victim was allegedly shot and killed in a drug deal in Newton County. The information surfaced during a related investigation in Arizona last year.
