The Federal Emergency Management Agency will provide $28 million for debris removal in Waveland, Meridian, Jackson and Pearl River and Wayne Counties.

U.S. Senators Thad Cochran and Trent Lott say FEMA also will reimburse the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency more than $4.2 million.

Cochran and Lott say the debris created by Hurricane Katrina has hindered the rebuilding process in many counties and cities.

Pearl River County will receive most of the money, $18.6 million. Waveland will receive $3.6 million; Jackson, $3.1 million; Meridian, $1.3 million; and Wayne County, $1.2 million.
