Two former employees at the Kemper-Neshoba Correctional Facility attended the Kemper County board of supervisors meeting Monday.
The two women said they were fired from their jobs. Shekelia McClendon and Mary McDonald were recently let go. They asked county supervisors to investigate the firings, saying they think their termination was personally motivated.
Supervisors said they don't have the authority to do that.
Sheriff James Moore said the employees can go through the appeals process.
"I think it's a personal issue," said McDonald. "But I think they should be able to tell us why we was terminated."
"We will investigate for further, and if the investigation proves, it will stand as it is, then that's what it will do, stand as it is," said Sheriff Moore.
Moore said the two were terminated for being late for work and other performance issues.
