Since Hurricane Katrina, the value of charities has been obvious. And agencies that provide help all year long need your help.
The United Way Of East Mississippi And West Alabama Tuesday kicked off its overall capital campaign.
The goal is $800,000. The money raised will help in lots of ways.
"The United Way agency helps fund 14 member agencies in our surrounding area," said fundraising chairman Brian Finnegan. "And that's what United Way is all about, helping meet the needs of the community, which is what these agencies do in a very effective way.
The United Way's pacesetter partners have already started and brought in $240,000 in pledges, or 30 percent of the overall goal.
