Connie Moss Hilt is on a mission to find who killed her son. In July 2004, when her son, Sgt. Donta Hisun was stationed at Hattiesburg's Camp Shelby, he was struck by a vehicle while running as part of physical training with other soldiers along Highway 49 South.

Four years later, no arrests have been made and police have no suspects. Hilt said she finds that hard to believe.

"You're telling me that a member of the U.S. Army, that one of their men was killed in the United States, right up the street from the camp and nobody knows nothing? Somebody knows something!" said Hilt.

Hisun was a member of Tennessee's 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment. He and his family had moved to Chattanooga when he was young. Hilt moved back to Meridian within the last year. Hisun had had his name changed from his birth name of James Moss, Jr.

Hilt said her son was a caring and generous person. At one time, he even gave the shoes off his feet to a homeless person. She said she simply has to know why his life was taken.

"This is not about money," said Hilt. "This is about somebody, please, do the right thing!"

Prior to Hisun's death, two other fatal hit-and-run collisions had occurred in the same area during the same month.

Officials with the Hattiesburg Police Department say, with no arrests and no suspects, the investigation continues.

"I will not, as long as I've got breath in my body, as long as somebody will listen to me, I will not let this go," said Hilt. "I can't!"
