The Mississippi High School Activities Association Annual Regional band festival was hosted Saturday by Meridian High School.
The competition at Ray Stadium featured 28 high school bands that were judged on musical performance, marching performance, and general effect.
"It's one thing to perform in front of your parents and the people that come to the football games, but when everybody sitting in that stand is a band member or band parent, it's another level of performance," said Terry Ivy, director of bands for Meridian Public Schools.
Several superior scores were awarded to bands competing to be the best in the state.
