Celebrations were held across the country on Veterans Day, including here in Meridian.
A large crowd gathered in front of the doughboy monument to honor the men and women from Meridian who have served in the military.
"Meridian is a special place. It does pay special attention to the military," said Capt. Russell Knight, commander of NAS Meridian. "They do honor the military and the veterans in a very special way."
Flowers were placed at the base of the Doughboy Monument. To honor the fallen, there was a 21 gun salute, followed by Taps.
