Julialake Landrum of Petal has been elected governor of the 61st Annual American Legion Auxiliary Girls State at The University of Southern Mississippi.

Other officers elected Wednesday:
Lieutenant Governor: Cameron Wilcher of Carthage

State Auditor: Arlissa Sneed of Pontotoc
Attorney General: Lindsay Linhares of Starkville
Commissioner of Insurance: Raven Bradley of Tupelo

The high school students will interact with their real-life counterparts Thursday in Jackson.

Girls State gives young women the opportunity to learn about the political process and the functions of government at the local and state levels by participating in mock political conventions, elections, trials and city projects in the fictitious state of "Magnolia."

Approximately 300 delegates participated in this year’s program.
