Testimony in the case ended Wednesday. The case is now in the hands of Chancery Judge Jason Floyd.
Attorneys from both sides now have until March 15 to submit a written summary of their case to the judge. After the submission, the judge has 180 days to render a verdict.
At issue is 9.3 square miles of land in the eastern part of Lauderdale County which Meridian is trying to annex. The town of Marion and several residential groups are opposing the effort.
If approved the annexation would affect roughly 1,400 residents.
