Surgical Program Back at MCC

The surgical technology program at Meridian Community College closed in the mid-1980s.

This fall, the program makes its return.

Surgical technicians work in operating rooms, cast rooms and the emergency room.

You can find them anywhere instruments need to be sterilized.

"It's going to be a great program for the students," said MCC's Dr. Richie McAlister. "It's helping our local medical centers to staff critical positions, and to insure excellent health care needs. And then thirdly, it's helping to improve our community life here at Meridian Community College."

The program is getting equipment donated from the three hospitals here in Meridian.
