83 Students Complete Nursing Program

Meridian, Miss.

Students who have earned their associate's degrees in nursing participated in a long-running tradition Friday morning.

The new nurses received their pins. Even though these students also get to march with other MCC graduates to receive their degrees, the pinning ceremony with the lighting of the nursing lamp is special.

"These students will find jobs in hospitals, long term care agencies. Some of them may do travel nursing, clinic nursing," said associate degree nursing team leader, Lara Collum. "So certainly they have a lot of options in front of them for their career."

Eighty-three students completed the program this year.

The next step for this group is passing a licensure exam and being able to work as registered nurses.
