Meridian police arrested Laderrick Rencher, 37, for a holdup earlier this week at Cefco on Highway 39. At the time, authorities say Rencher was dressed as a woman.
Police said Rencher entered the Cefco around 2 a.m. Tuesday and assaulted the clerk, before stealing merchandise in the store.
Officers say they received information from the public after releasing surveillance images to the media Wednesday.
"After investigation, we were able to determine that the suspect we were looking for was the one that the caller turned in," said Capt. Dean Harper. "Yesterday afternoon, Meridian Police Department, as well as the DART team, arrested 37-year old Laderrick Rencher."
The Cefco on Highway 39 has been the victim of several other robberies in recent months. Police said some businesses are hit more often because of the neighborhoods that surround them.
Rencher is charged with armed robbery and is also being held on unrelated contempt of court charges.
Bond for the armed robbery count was set at $50,000.
