Attorney Taken to Court

Federal marshals picked up Meridian attorney Dwayne Watts Wednesday to take him to Pensacola, Florida.

Watts is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 11 to show cause why he should not be charged with contempt of court for failure to appear on a previous case.

U.S. Magistrate Casey Rogers issued the order for Watts to be returned.

Last year, watts signed papers accusing two members of the East Mississippi Drug Task Force of simple assault.

The misdemeanor charge was thrown out when Watts failed to appear in Meridian Municipal Court.
