Car Show Raises Hundreds for Child Fighting Brain Cancer

Meridian, Mississippi A crowd came together on Sunday to raise money for a teenager with brain cancer and the group did it with style.

The Independent Riderz Car Club heard about 13-year-old Jatavious Davis's situation and wanted to help his family by hosting a car show. Cars of every style and color drove out in support with $15 entree fees and sponsorships. Organizers say Jatavious's mother was touched at the show of kindness.

"His mom was very appreciative," Kendaysha McClelland says. "She even cried about it. She is so happy that people take the time out to care and show the love that she's getting right now. So she's very appreciative."

The club raised over $600 by the end of the day. The group says most of that money came from private donations, from police officers, Mayor Percy Bland, and other car clubs. 100 percent of those proceeds will go toward the Davis family's medical expenses.
