The Vienna Choir Boys have been around for 500 years. Invitations to join are limited to the only the best. It's one of the reasons The MSU Riley Center in Meridian, Miss., elected to make this performance a showcase for its future activities.
"The Vienna Choir Boys is an elite group of really gifted, talented musicians. They are known for their beautiful voices, have been known around the world for centuries," said Penny Kemp, marketing director for the MSU Riley Center. "They will sing some beautiful classical pieces as well as folk and world music. It should be an outstanding show."
You're as likely to hear hits made popular by Madonna and Enya as Franz Schubert and Michael Haydn.
"This is just really a taste to give people a sense for what we'll be doing in this community," Kemp said. "Once we open our new facility, it will just be an extraordinary place to come hear and see performing artists they haven't had the opportunity to do so before now."
The Riley Center plans to launch a full season of arts events in the fall, and make it easy to buy tickets in person or online.
WTOK-TV and Fox Meridian are proud sponsors of this appearance by the Vienna Choir Boys.
The show will be Monday, Feb. 20, at Meridian's Temple Theatre at 7:00 p.m.
Tickets are available online at www.rileycenter.msstate.edu. Beginning Jan. 17, tickets may be purchased at The Riley Center box office at 2120-A 5th Street in Meridian, and by calling (601) 696-2200.
