Meridian police were called to the scene of a shooting Friday around 2:30 a.m.
Units responded to a reported shooting in the 4800 block of 20th Street.
Police spokesman Dean Harper said the investigation is ongoing.
"There they found a subject who had been shot once in the leg. The victim, a 38-year-old man, was transported to a local hospital where he underwent surgery for his injuries," said Harper.
Harper said the injury was not believed to be life-threatening. The victim's name was not released.
