Crime Prevention Awards

Updated: Tue 6:21 PM, Feb 18, 2003

Each year, the Meridian Exchange Club presents its Crime Prevention awards to three officers in the Meridian area. The club recognizes law enforcement officers for making daily sacrifices.

Guest speaker, Sheriff Billy Sollie, cited the statistics that show what a dangerous job law enforcement officers have.

Honored from the Meridian Police department, veteran officer, Artis Johnson.

The Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department was represented by deputy of the year, Sgt. Frankie Springer.

State Trooper Harrison Cook of the Mississippi Highway Patrol's Troop H was honored as highway patrolman of the year.

The Exchange Club named the award for longtime member, the late Raymond P. Davis.

Officers say the sacrifices they make are repaid to them through safer communities.
