The executive director of Multi-County Community Service Agency said Friday that an alleged scam of an elderly client was an isolated incident that will not be tolerated.
Callie Cole emphasized that 47-year-old Tommy L. Anderson had been assigned to deliver meals by Department of Human Services in exchange for receiving food stamps. She said he was not one of many volunteers who donate their time to the program.
"If anyone has any money of any description that they want to give to Meals on Wheels, make sure that they make it out to Multi-County Community Service Agency and put Meals on Wheels on it," said Cole. "We do not give money to people that deliver the meals."
The meals on wheels program is administered through MCCSA. Cole said all government funds and private donations are accounted for according to federal regulations.
