Governor Haley Barbour is giving lawmakers a month off from a special session -- and he's criticizing them for not being able to fill a budget hole for Medicaid.
Legislators had planned to come back next week. But after they left the Capitol Thursday, Barbour said he's delaying their return until August 4.
Officials say Medicaid needs another $90 million to get through the budget year that ends next June 30.
Barbour says even if the entire House and Senate are gone from the Capitol, work can still continue.
Lawmakers have been in an on-again, off-again special session since the end of May. So far, the session has cost taxpayers nearly $548,000.
