Southern Pine Returns $2.5 Million to Members

Taylorsville, Miss.

Southern Pine members will receive $2.5 million in capital credits from the 2012 fiscal year.

The decision by the cooperative’s board of directors was announced during the Nov. 14 annual membership meeting.

Members who are owed $50 or more will begin receiving checks in December. Those owed less than $50 will receive a credit to their account. The allocation is based on the amount of electricity the member used in 2012.

"This money represents the amount remaining after all operating, maintenance and general expenses are deducted from the total amount members paid on the electric bill during the fiscal year," said general manager, Donald L. Jordan.

To date, Southern Pine says it has returned more than $50 million in capital credits to its members.
