Leake Academy girls basketball coach, Doyle Wolverton, is accused of biting a player in the face.
Newsms.fm reported Monday that the alleged incident happened last week during a timeout at an away game.
Leake County Sheriff Greg Waggoner said a deputy took a picture that shows what appeared to be a human bite mark on the girl's face.
Waggoner did not say whether charges had been filed.
He said the report filed in Leake County said the coach was apparently angry during the time out and was in the face of the girl. It escalated and the biting happened on the court.
Rumors about what happened began getting out late in the week and the sheriff confirmed the report Monday.
Wolverton holds national ranking in the number of wins for high school girls basketball. He was inducted into the Miss. Private Schools Coaches Hall of Fame in 2009.
