West Lauderdale Elementary took on a far east trip Wednesday, as students turned the school's gym into a gateway to China.

The event was in honor of one student's Chinese grandparents who are visiting the U.S.

"This is an interesting thing for the children, because we learn all about the dynasties. There are six. We have a lot of art and language incorporated. We have karate and singing," said Elaine Sorrels.

Second, third, and fourth grade talented and gifted students made the artwork, performed the dances, and performed Tai Chi.

Over 600 children walked through the museum of China at West Lauderdale Elementary.
