The Jump Start Program, MCC's small business development program, has a new director. Steven Bass took over a program that college officials consider one of their best success stories.
Bass said one of the main things he wants to do is get the word out about a program.
In addition to having a new leader, the program is also getting a $10,000 workforce development grant from the American Association of Community Colleges.
The money will go toward scholarships for those who want to learn how to start a new business and keep it open.
Since the program started in 1995, Jump Start graduates have begun more than 50 new businesses, and almost 80 percent of them are still open.
