Highway Death Arrest

A Sumter County, Alabama man is facing charges related to a recent highway death near Laurel, Mississippi. Twenty-four-year-old Ricky Woodard from Bellamy, Alabama is charged with vehicular manslaughter.

Investigators say Woodard had been drinking at the time of the one-vehicle accident. It happened last Friday on I-59.

Sumter County Sheriff Johnny Hatter says the victim was a passenger in the car Woodard was driving.

"The victim's name is Victor Hill. He was 26-year-old and from Livingston," Sheriff Hatter said.

Two other people were in the vehicle. Neither was injured.
