Meridian, Miss. Police say no charges have been filed yet in Meridian's latest shooting. A child was shot just after 5:00 tonight, and investigators are sorting out the details.
It happened at a residence in the 2400 block of 54th Avenue. Meridian Police say they responded to a home where they found a minor child shot in the chest. No names have been released, and a specific address was not released, but we do know the child was taken to a local hospital, then flown to another hospital for treatment. Police say reports are another person in the home was playing with a gun when it went off, hitting the child, but detectives continue to investigate.
Just a little earlier, on another Meridian street, police responded to shots fired into a home.Police say it happened in the 3100 block of Davis Street where a house was fired upon. No one was injured in the shooting, but detectives do have a person in custody for questioning in the case.
