The Meridian Public Schools Safety Board met Thursday to discuss concerns involving security issues within local schools.
The Rev. Roderick Steele described the Safety Board's mission.
"We're formulated from a group of citizens asked by the safety department of the public school system to look at the different safety aspects of the different schools in Meridian," said Steele. "And after our findings, we'll take our recommendations back to the superintendent who will then try to implement some plans to make safety better here in Meridian."
The committee is made up of various people including parents, police officers and mental care professionals.
