Meridian, Miss. A Meridian church hosted a community blood drive.
Calvary Baptist Church in Meridian played host to the blood drive. Acquandra Fox is both a lab manager for United Blood Services and a member of the church. She says she knows the needs of the community and sees it in her own church. With February being Black History Month, and the need so high, she says she wanted to help give back to the community.
"Well as I said I am a lab manager and since we don’t have our fixed site here, and this is Black History Month, and we are giving back to the community,” Fox explains. “We know the need; we have several members here that have used the blood. We know the need for it and we are just trying to give back by donating our time."
A blood mobile will be set up at 1115 25th Avenue every Monday and Friday, starting February 10th.
