A Collinsville family is safe and staying with relatives after losing everything in a fire Monday morning.
By the afternoon, the local Red Cross had already helped them begin the recovery process.
"So whenever there's a fire or any type of disaster, we're able to go out to the scene and give immediate assistance to families," said Cheri Barry, executive director of the American Red Cross key chapter.
"With this particular family, there were two adults and two children and we were able to give them emergency food and shelter and clothing," Barry said.
The Red Cross key chapter of Meridian has helped over 50 families victimized by fire this year.
