The Mississippi State University Riley Center for the Performing Arts hosted a workshop for teachers to help them integrate the upcoming presentation of "Buffalo Soldier" into the classroom.
The touring theatrical program about the Spanish-American War is designed for 5th through 9th graders. Teachers learned how to bring the curriculum to life.
"The tests, the studies, the research have shown that by using the arts, you can more fully engage students in the classroom. You engage their minds, their bodies, their emotions, and therefore, they'll learn regular subject matter better by using the arts," said Dr. Nick Nichols, Dean of MSU Meridian.
Teachers may check on the availability of tickets for "Buffalo Soldier" set for Friday, Mar. 31 at the Temple Theatre in Meridian by calling Charlotte Tabereaux at 601-696-2204.
