It was standing room only as the Sumter County Board of Education met Tuesday night in Livingston. Concerned parents attended to ask questions about student's safety in light of last week's fatal stabbing.

"We had a school shooting at Livingston Junior High last year. There was no security there. I'm talking about we've got metal detectors but we have no one there to man those metal detectors," said concerned parent, Jerome Watkins. "I have been to the school on a number of occasions and those metal detectors have been turned off at 7:30 in the morning. This board has got to answer some questions from this community because these students are our kids."

Meanwhile, Tuesday funeral services were held for 17-year-old Sedrick Daniels. Last Wednesday the Gainesville native was stabbed to death in the cafeteria at Livingston High School.

Seventeen-year-old Anthony Ormond was charged in the case. He has since been released from the Sumter County jail on $20,000 bond.

The case remains under investigation.
