The state parole board is expected to hear this week from Larry Fisher, the man convicted of raping a Lauderdale County woman in 1983.
Parole board officials say Fisher will come before them and a decision will be made immediately after that.
Fisher is serving a life sentence in prison for the rape. He was also convicted of two murders in Lauderdale County, but those convictions were overturned.
Fisher was identified by a witness as "the blue light rapist" because he used a blue light to stop females and the attack them.
If he is paroled, Fisher could be released by May 1.
