Another new development is set for downtown Meridian. First State Bank of Waynesboro will be opening two new branches here.
The first of the two facilities will open in May of this year and provide additional services for customers that work in Meridian but do not live here.
"We feel like this will be another service for them, given they work up here and they can't get back to Waynesboro. They can still bank with their hometown bank," said Johnny Brewer, President of First State Bank in Meridian.
The second facility will be built at the corner of 22nd Avenue and 8th Street in Meridian, on what is now a vacant lot.
The architectural features of the building were designed to enhance the downtown area. This branch should open in the spring of 2007.
