Make-A-Wish volunteers were walking for a good cause Saturday.
It was the third annual Walk-for-Wishes, a fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Meridian Chapter. The group grants wishes for kids with life-threatening medical conditions. The average wish costs $5,000 and most of the kids wish for the same thing.
"Usually they wish for a trip to Disney World. We send the whole family for a whole week. All expenses paid, first-class, top-of-the-line. No worries that week about any financial problems, any medical visits or treatments," said Jane Walsh with the Mississippi Make-A-Wish Foundation. "They just have a week to be a kid again."
The Mississippi Make-A-Wish foundation currently has about seventy wish kids. Five of those are in the Meridian area.
