I am impressed and thankful that you have gone the extra mile to cover this story. With your support you have given hope to Errol's family to find him. My daughter has been involved in this search. We all await the story of him being found and returned to his family !!!

You guys are doing such a great job. It must be discouraging and frustrating, but I think you are so close to getting Erroll back with his loved ones. I keep a candle burning here for you all. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for covering the story, there are many people involved in this search, and you are doing a great service in providing continuing coverage for your community. It's warming to see that you have been so responsive to your community interests - a good measure of your regional focus, I would have thought. Best of luck

Thank you for your continued coverage of the search for Errol.

Thank you for your continuing coverage on Errol the wolfhound. I would be searching myself if I only lived closer.

Thank you for this report. I am online from Montana and am impressed by your sensitivty to this family and their missing hound. It is heart warming to see such efforts.

Lindsey Brown & WTOK - I can't thank you enough for the coverage you've provided on Errol. Most of the Irish Wolfhound community cannot be physically present to help in the search but you're doing more than I could if I were there. This kind of coverage saves lives. Even people who aren't dog lovers must realize what it means to Destiny to survive the accident & surgery, but still not know where her heartdog is. Please, keep it up! ps - ditto on everything Tamara said!

This story brought me to your site all the way from the Aleutians in Alaska. I think your coverage on this story is touching and a much needed touch of sensitivity that is sorely lacking in media these days. Kudos! I hope Errol is a safe and sound hound.

So impressed by your continuing coverage of Errol and Destiny. Many stations wouldn't care so much. You all are over the top!

Posted by: Beth Location: Minnesota on Jul 30, 2008 at 03:22 PM
Excellent reporting - thanks for your staying on top of this story. Thoughts and prayers from Minnesota are with Errol and his family and hopes that he gets home safely very soon.

Great Reporting!! I like to think that if it were my dog, our local media would do the same. Who needs to hear only about big tragedies, anyway? ANY news media will carry those, it is the local, heart-touching stories that we are interested in.

Posted by: Lynne Location: Georgia on Jul 30, 2008 at 10:07 AM
Thank you WTOK and Lindsey Brown for your continued coverage of Errol. Your efforts to keep alive the story of just-a-dog that has gone missing is surely indicative of the lengths you will go to in the unfortunate event that a child or disabled adult goes missing. I'm sure your community is very proud of and happy with your commitment to it, as those of us in the extended Irish Wolfhound community certainly are.

Thank you to Lindsey Brown and WTOK for keeping Errol top of mind and in our hearts. There will be a wonderful reunion taking place very soon so keep that front page of the Meridian Star open! What an amazing story.

We've been following Errol & Destiny's unfolding story with baited breath. It's great to see that so many other people care, from all over the world at that & especially the media who can make such a difference in these cases. I have two wolfhounds, & am a big lover of dogs in general & want to thank you at WTOK & Lindsey Brown for continuing to get the latest out there to everyone. And I'm sure Destiny is the most grateful you are helping with the safe return of her beloved hound.

WTOK--in this world of bad and sad news--thank you for covering the story of Errol as your community tries to reunite him with his Destiny. How awful for her that she was in the hospital recovering from the crash and still has a way to go--and on top of that her beloved hound is lost. Thank you for giving her hope by continuing to cover Errol. Thanks also to the people of Meridian for their continued care in looking for this hound. We all know that compared to politics, the war, the deficit, the economy that the fate of one dog doesn't rank number one for critical news. But, we can't do anything about those things. We can, continue to look, hope, pray, and follow the news of Errol. Because, just maybe, with the help of the good people of Meridian, this story of a hound will have a happy ending! Thank you WTOK. I check your website every day hoping for good news! Thank you!!!

Thanks for keeping this out in the public eye. These hounds are very special to all who have the pleasure of sharing their lives with them. Each and everyone is loved by all of us....Thanks again

Thank you for keeping this story alive! It is horrific to lose your beloved pet, but even worse in this situation! We know that the dog Irish Wolfhound Errol is still there, we just need to re unite him w/ his loving owner, who is so injured! Thank you all for your continued coverage..all of us who cannot be there are hoping for the best Marcia & her Irish Wolfhound & her rescue mix

Thank you, WTOK, for giving this story the coverage it deserves. For many people dogs are a part of their family and I can not imagine the desperation this poor family must be feeling in their search for their dog. Keep up the good work and please keep giving this story coverage. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Thank you WTOK!! On behalf of every animal lover out there. The loss of a family member, four legged or not, is certainly newsworthy --again and again--until found! Bravo!

Thank you WTOK and the Meridian Star for keeping this story active. Many of us from around the county have been following this story - and are praying for Errol's safe return and a speedy recovery for Destiny.

Thank you to WTOK for continuing to spread the word about Errol. Having my heart stolen by this breed and also being an active volunteer in my local Humane Society, I too often see animals like Errol end up in our facility or as a foster in my home, because the effort wasn't put in to identifying or locating them. It is frustrating from a shelter's perspective to see those wonderful eyes and trying to piece together what "their story" is so that they can be reunited with their families. This is a good news story about the amazing bond between human & hound. Hound Haven B&B is rooting for a happy reunion very soon.

Posted by: Phyl Location: New Jersey on Jul 29, 2008 at 04:08 PM
People around the world are praying for the safe return of Errol and appreciate with all of our hearts the efforts by your newspaper and the local residents. It's so heartwarming to see strangers helping to return this lost dog to his heartbroken owner. Many thanks to all of you.

Thank you Lindsey Brown and WTOK for your continued coverage of Errol. Your coverage of Errol’s plight is invaluable and far-reaching. Even to those that may find it annoying to hear yet another report about Errol will be happy to hear of his happy reunion with Destiny. The Irish Wolfhound community around the WORLD is watching on pins and needles and everyday wait for good news. Errol has lived his entire life in a town called HOPE! HOPE and prayers is all I can offer right now. With luck and HOPE Errol will come home to live out his life with Destiny in a little town called HOPE.

Errol's family would like to thank the entire Meridian community for their help, generosity, and warm wishes for Destiny and Errol. Also to WTOK for their continued support and efforts in the search for Errol. These news stories are going out not just nationally but internationally via the internet to the Irish Wolfhound community and dog lovers everywhere. The world really is watching Meridian MS in hopes of a happy ending. As Destiny continues to recover, her one wish is for Errol's safe return home. Destiny is determined to return to Meridian in the near future to personally help in the search for her best friend. Again a big thank you Meridian from the Steppin'wolf family. "Thank You" Lindsey Brown, WTOK, and the community of Meridian for your compassion & continued support & coverage of Destiny's beloved Errol, the lost Irish Wolfhound! PLEASE continue to give Errol front page coverage, in spite of what this M in LAUDERDALE says, who obviously doesn't have a compassionate bone is his/her body! Keep up the good work, our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved, that Errol quickly finds his way back to his family!

Thank you for helping find Errol. I can't imagine how terrified this family is for their dog. As an owner of 3 wolfhounds, I truly appreciate all your efforts in helping to re-unite this dog and owner.

Posted by: Nikki Location: Hayward, California on Jul 29, 2008 at 04:32 AM
Well done for helping Errol to stay in the minds of your local residents by keeping his story alive. Any local citizen could potentially see Errol and remember that story and the phone number you published, and give a call! It would break my heart if my Irish Wolfhound were lost and alone like Errol is, and I know his family is suffering. Many of us are sending our prayers and well-wishes for Errol's safe return, and we look to the local media to help us keep up with what's going on. Thank you for this contribution!

It is the little things that carry the most positive messages. It has been heartwarming for me to read how one community has rallied around to assist in whatever way they can. We need more true stories of humanity and love to inspire us to help others.

As a dog owner I know how important pets are in people's lives. They give us love, hope and happiness and ask for nothing but safety in return. This story gives us all hope. Thank you for your attention and coverage.

I appologise for sounding harsh. I, too feel for the family that has lost their pet. I just think that it shouldn't be on the front page of the newpaper or headline story on TV. Sorry.

Thank you, WTOK, L. Brown and Meridian Star for the continued coverage of lost Errol. The support the family has received from Meridian citizens and organizations has been heartwarming and should make you all very proud of your community! I continue to pray for a reunion of Errol and his family.

I've been keeping a close eye on this story. Your paper and online updates have helped me stay abreast of this news. GREAT COVERAGE ! Thanks so much for caring enough about important stories like Errol's to take your time and newsprint space to help keep everyone focused on his return to a young, injured girl waiting for some good news. THANKS AGAIN! I'll keep reading your paper. It's a darn good one.

WTOK! You win the award for station with the most heart. The Irish Wolfhound Community is very close knit, and it seems that Meridian shares and understands that. We appreciate your continued support as we attempt to recover one of our own. I know that many will think that hope is lost, but please believe us when we say it is not. We have worked this hard and will work harder to find Errol, and we will bring him home. Your station and the people of Meridian have meant so much to all of us as we are coping with this tragedy. Destiny and her family have been incredibly strong, and you have no idea what your stories and continued coverage have meant to them and to us. I don't know how we can ever thank you enough for what you have done for Destiny and her family, thank you for taking them into your arms and your hearts and taking such good care of them. We are too far away to care for them ourselves and you have personified what the word "community" is all about. Thank you.

Posted by: Toni Location: California on Jul 28, 2008 at 06:57 PM
You show so much compassion for your viewers and your neighbors by reminding everyone to keep their eyes out for Errol, the frightened and lost Irish Wolfhound so he can be reunited with his dear mistress and help her recover from her severe injuries. You are what true American spirit is all about--we help each other when we're down because we truly care about one another. Keep up the good work, and let's see a really happy outcome to this tragedy! Thank you so much for all you're doing.

Ms. Brown, I just wanted to thank you and your tv station for your coverage & continued support in helping us find Errol, the missing Irish Wolfhound. Thousands of people have joined the effort around the world but it is locally where the support is most needed. The Meridian Star and you & your station have helped immensely and just wanted you to know how much we appreciate it. I hope no one has to face a situation where their beloved pet and family member is lost. Some may not understand the love and bond between a human and their dog, but many do and understand the worry and heartache involved. Thank you. Cie Irish Wolfhound Int'l Magazine

Thank you for keeping the public aware of this missing dog. My husband is a veterinarian and I raise and show Irish Wolfhounds. They are very close to our hearts and it saddens us that this frightened dog is still missing. Keep up the good work.

THANK you WTOK - to me, this is what home-town coverage is all about! IW owners all over the world (thru breed email lists) have their eyes and hearts and donations with this dog and his owners -- and you're caring enough to know it's important to keep folks thinking and 'looking'. i can only hope that if i lost my dog in maine, the local stations would do the same. WELL DONE! Do all the news, but don't forget Errol til he's found.

It's great that you and the Meridian Star keep that poor dog up front in everyone's mind just in case someone sees him. His young owner, still recuperating from awful wounds and broken bones, feels a little better knowing that a lot of people care about her and her lost dog. Thank you, Lindsay Brown and WTOV-TV.
