One of Montgomery's leading lobbying groups, the Alabama State Employees Association, is being sued along with Nationwide Life Insurance Company.
Two state workers claim the association breached its fiduciary duties when it recommended Nationwide's deferred compensation plan to state workers. They cite tax records showing the company was paying the association about $1 million annually.
A judge in Birmingham has scheduled a hearing Sept. 9 on the association's request to dismiss the suit.
